The friendliest first card show in the region returns next weekend. Twin Oaks Shows sets up at The Commons at Federal Way on November 7 and 8, and admission and parking are both free.
The operation is family-run and has been putting on Northwest card shows for more than three decades. Most of the dealers started out as collectors who needed an outlet for their surplus, so the tables feel more like a community sale than a convention floor. Sports cards, Pokémon, and everything in between share the floor, which makes it an easy first show for a kid, a returning collector, or anyone who just wants to browse without paying at the door.
Why this show, why now
Halloween weekend is behind us, and the next show on the calendar is the low-pressure one. There is no ticket to buy, no line to beat, and no reason not to wander. That is the whole appeal of Twin Oaks, and it is why the show has lasted this long. A first-timer can learn the floor at their own pace, and a regular can work a want list table by table without the crush of a big-city expo.
Bring a want list, and bring a sell binder if you have cards to move. The dealers here are collectors first, so a fair conversation about a card usually beats a hard sell. If you are hunting something specific, ask, because the person behind the table probably collects it too.
Back home at the shop
Back home, Saturday League at Drum Island runs from 2 to 5 PM. The shop opens at 1 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. So the weekend has a simple shape, games at the shop on Saturday, then the Federal Way floor the following weekend, with a full week to sort what you found and figure out what you still need.
Twin Oaks runs November 7 and 8 at The Commons at Federal Way. Free admission, free parking, and a floor full of people who started out as collectors. That is a hard combination to beat.
