Seattle Cardboard Check-In: Pre-Rift Week and Pokeween
Nexus Night tonight, Pre-Rift weekend almost here, Pokeween all month, and One Piece's first Friday without Mihawk. Your week in Seattle cardboard.
Seattle Cardboard Check-In: Pre-Rift Week and Pokeween
Tuesday morning, which means Nexus Night tonight at 7. Also means we are three days out from Pre-Rift weekend and right in the middle of Pokémon's spookiest month. Let's get into it.
Radiance Pre-Rift runs October 16 through 22
The final Riftbound expansion of the year is almost here. Pre-Rift events run October 16 through 22 at game stores everywhere, and the full set drops on October 23 (Undercode News). Radiance brings three new mechanics, Disarm, Show Off, and Deploy, plus music-themed ultra-rares that are going to look absolutely wild in a binder.
Quick heads up on our end: we have a second Pre-Rift kit landing this Friday, and we are cooking up an off-platform weekend event around it for either Saturday the 17th or Sunday the 18th. The day is not locked yet. Watch the Discord and this blog this week, because prerelease weekends are genuinely the best nights in this hobby. Everyone cracks packs at the same time, nobody knows the meta, and the jank is glorious.
And if tonight is your flavor instead: Tuesday Riftbound Nexus Night, 7:00 PM, $10, 16 players max. Winner gets store credit.
Pokeween 2026 is happening right now
Play! Pokémon is running Pokeween 2026 all month, October 1 through 31, at participating local stores. Promo cards, a sticker sheet, open play and trading alongside tournaments, and featured Pokémon Zubat, Golbat, and Crobat, all tied into Mega Evolution Chaos Rising (otia).
The timing is almost suspiciously good for us: our Play! Pokémon League kicks off Wednesday, October 21, 6:00 to 8:00 PM, right in the middle of Pokeween. Come by opening night and ask what the League has lined up for it. League is open to all ages, and it is exactly the kind of low pressure Wednesday evening this month deserves.
First post-banlist Friday night
The One Piece banlist went live yesterday (October 12), which means Friday's 7:00 PM One Piece locals are the first Friday night under the new format. If you have been waiting to rebuild that black pile or finally test the thing that was illegal for months, this is your week. $10 entry, 16 players max, winner gets store credit.
Also on the calendar: Monday Dragon Ball Super Fusion World at 6:30 PM ($10, 8 player cap while the events stay small, back to 7:00 PM and 16 players from October 19).
Big week. See you at the tables.
