Nam Dang won the biggest Radiance tournament yet, taking the 755-player Sacramento Showdown with Riven, the Exile, and finishing without a single loss. Riven also filled the top standings behind him, while the runner-up played Akali and the week's other big winner played Rengar.
Dang's record was 12 wins, no losses, and 2 draws. His winning list is priced at $460.80 on RiftDecks. This was Riven's fourth win in a week, after Hartford, a Sacramento Win-A-Case, and an online Showdown event.
Sacramento: a 755-player verdict
Sacramento was the largest Radiance event to date, and the final standings read like a Riven convention with one exception.
Alex Gorica's Akali finished second, the only non-Riven list near the very top. Calvin Jin's Viktor took fifth, with a list priced near $65. ShonenTCG's early tier list had already put Riven alone in its top tier, and Sacramento is the large-event result that list was waiting for.
InkSight's October 25 snapshot put the Overnumbered Riven at $271.62, half its Pre-Rift price. The tournament deck is not the collector card, and the two prices tell different stories about the same Legend.
Paris ran the mirror to its logical end
The Le Rift Tour Finale at Paris Games Week had eight players, and every one of them played Riven. The winner, nUitWlTuiAZEWIKX, finished with four wins and no losses. A field like that is less a tournament and more a laboratory, since every match tests the same deck against itself. The lesson for a local player is not that Riven is unbeatable, it is that the mirror rewards the player who knows the mirror best.
Vaughan gave Tuesday night the counterplay
The Vaughan Radiance 5k went the other way, with SSantoli winning on Rengar, Pridestalker, and the runner-up on Rengar as well. SSantoli finished with six wins, no losses, and one draw. The field held 126 players. Riven still placed three times in the top ten there, so the counterplay did not erase the deck, it just gave the room a second answer. Full standings are on RiftDecks.
Tuesday Nexus Night at Drum Island runs at 7 PM, and this is the week to bring either side of that argument to the tables. The next Summoner Skirmish window lands November 9, with Graves as the participation promo. A second window follows December 14, with Lulu in that slot.
