Saturday is the new League day at Drum Island, and the first Saturday session lands on Halloween itself. The Play! Pokémon League session runs from two to five in the afternoon. The date is October 31, and it is the kind of afternoon that works whether you are chasing points or just learning the game. Bring the deck you have, not the deck you wish you had. The tables will meet you where you are, and the trading after rounds is half the point.

One Saturday, two stops

Across the lake in Bellevue, the same Saturday belongs to the card show crowd. The Collectors Choice Halloween Card Show fills the Meydenbauer Center with more than 170 tables, and general admission is ten dollars. That is a lot of cardboard under one roof, and it pairs naturally with a League afternoon. Play a few rounds, warm up your want list at the tables, and then go hunt the show floor with a clearer idea of what you are actually looking for.

The two stops share one Saturday, so build the day around whichever one you want to hit first. A League session gives you games and trades with people you will see again next week. A show floor gives you the one card you have been chasing for months, sitting in a case you would never have found online. Together they are the whole hobby in a single day: play with people, then go find the cardboard.

What to bring

Keep the packing simple. Bring your deck, a trade binder if you have one, and a short want list written down before you leave the house. A want list is the difference between a show floor that excites you and a show floor that overwhelms you. If a card is not on the list, you can still buy it, but at least you will know you chose it on purpose.

New players get the same welcome as regulars at League, and that matters more than any single pull. Come play the afternoon session, say hello at the counter if it is your first time, and then enjoy the show floor knowing you have already had the best part of the day: games with real people.
